Federal law protects employees throughout the country from age discrimination, racial discrimination, sex discrimination, and discrimination on the basis of religion, national origin or disability. New Jersey law offers even more protection for employees.

For example, federal age discrimination law only covers people age 40 or older while New Jersey law has no age minimum. New Jersey law protects employees from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation while federal law does not.
